Bottle Rocket Overview-Steps Rocket Design Notebook Rocket Body and Nose Cone Fins and Tail Engineer Payload Delivery Example of Detailed Design Rocket simulator website 1 Rocket simulator website 2 Rocket simulator website 3 Rocket simulator website 4 QUICK CLASS LINKS Simulator Website Science Class Information/Agendas Parent Contact Information Current Grade **SCIENCE 8TH GRADE********************* COURSE DESCRIPTION: Advances Science 8 is a one year course which offers study in the areas of: (1) Chemistry: Periodic Table, Structure of Matter, Chemical Reactions, Chemistry of Living Systems (2) Physical Science: Density and Buoyancy, Forces, and Motion (3) Astronomy: Earth in the Solar System GRADING POLICY: Grades will be based on the notebook (investigations, reflections, handouts, notes, participation, and organization), Homework (extensions of class activities or practice sheets, and parent signatures on progress reports), Assessments (long term projects, tests, quizzes, large and small group discussions). The categories are weighted as follows: Notebook 30% Homework 20% Assessments 50% You will be given a grade printout one week before the end of the grading period. This printout is to be taken home for your parents/guardians to review and sign. All course work will be given point values. Letter grades will be based on a percentage of the point total. You may also access your grades online at moodle.sandi.net or at the grade link above. You will need to read the login directions. For this sight you will use your last name for the user name and your last name plus the last three number of your ID number without ant spaces. Select your term and period to view. Almost all of the students work is reflected in the Interactive Notebook which makes it a vital component of the course. All components of the notebook will be graded on a 4 point rubric. Copies of the rubric are been given to students prior to grading the notebook in class and are sent home for parent signatures.. Letter grades will be based on a percentage of the total points: 90-100% = A 80-89% = B 70-79% = C 60-69% = D 59%- and lower = F Quizzes/Assessments: If students receive less than 70%, they are encouraged to come in and review the quiz before retaking it. They can retake for a maximum score of 75%. There are no current calendar items.
